Austria Family Reunification

Overview

Austria family reunification allows immediate family members to migrate to Austria as a dependent. Main applicant must be Austria RWR card holder/EU Blue card holder or should be a permanent resident or citizen of the country.

Eligible family members who can apply as dependent are:

• Spouses
• Registered partners
• Unmarried minors including adoptive and step children

Types of Dependent Visa

Red-White-Red Card Plus

Family members of

• Red-White-Red Card or an EU Blue Card holder
• Third-country nationals* with a long-term residence title in Austria

*Third-country nationals are individuals who are neither EEA- nor Swiss citizens.

The RWR card plus holders can stay, work, study or visit Austria.

Family Member of Austria

Family members of Austrian nationals or citizens can obtain the residence title “Family Member”, provided they meet the Austrian Immigration guidelines

Settlement Permit – Dependent

Relatives of Austrian nationals or citizens can obtain the residence title “Settlement Permit - Dependent, if the general granting requirements are met. The sponsor should issue a liability declaration regarding the third country national.

Documents Required

• Valid passport (not required for dependent child who is less than 6 months old)
•  Marriage certificate for spouse
• Birth certificate
• Document proof on relation between dependent and the main applicant
• Documents pertaining to accommodation
• Sufficient funds
• Financial requirements: The main applicant should have income which should be equal to or exceed the standard income rate. The standard income rate for 2014 is amounted to € 857.73 for singles, € 1,286.03 for couples and an additional € 132.34 for each child.
• Health insurance
• Evidence that sponsor holds the required residence title
• Evidence of German language skills (Dependents of not all categories require to demonstrate German language skills.  Share the visa copy of main applicant for further guidance.)

Visa Fee & Processing Time

Visa fee for adults: 100 EUR (80 EUR at the time of lodging the application and 20 EUR on visa grant)

Visa fee for minors up to the age of 18 years: 50 EUR

Visa processing time is a minimum of 2 months after submission of application at the embassy.
