Dependents of a person holding Hong Kong student visa can migrate to Hong Kong under Student Dependent Visa.
Persons admitted for studying in full-time undergraduate or post-graduate programmes in local degree-awarding institutions may apply to bring in their spouses and unmarried dependent children under the age of 18. A separate application needs be filed for each family member and must be sponsored by the principal visa holder.
For a student, following are considered as dependents:
An application for admission of a dependant may be favourably considered if:
Dependents of the principal applicant are prohibited from taking employment in Hong Kong. A prior permission from Director of Immigration is required to work under this visa.
Dependants are eligible to study in Hong Kong and do not require prior permission from the Director of Immigration. Dependants need not apply for a separate student visa in order to study in Hong Kong.
The length of stay of dependants of persons, who have been admitted into the HKSAR to take up studies, will be linked to that of their sponsors. If the principal applicant intends to stay in Hong Kong only until the duration of course then the respective dependents will also need to return with the principal applicant.
