The Bureau of Immigration is upgrading its immigration system as a part of which it introduced new security visa stickers. The new initiative is to keep up with global and superior practices followed by equivalent agencies.
The Bureau leveraged the technology to prepare security stickers with a number of features to protect temporary visitor’s visas against falsification.
Siegfred Mison, BI Commissioner, said that same technology will be used in the process of developing security visa stickers for long-stay visitor visa extension and special study permit.
Security visa stickers for temporary visitor’s visas will be available at BI’s main office in Intramuros, Manila, Makati, Cebu, Baguio and Davao offices, he added.
With a self-adhesive substrate, UV dull and rounded corner, the sticker visa label holds an optically variable device and micro line prints, detected only by specially-trained immigration officers.
Over 200 new passports readers have been bought for airports across the nation to identify alteration, insertion and hints of falsified passports.
New batch of passport readers are likely to come up by the end of this month to reduce congestion at the immigration counter.
