South Africa Announces 10-Year Visas For BRICS Nationals

Apparently, eligible business travelers will obtain a port-of-entry visa with a validity period of ten years. The visas will allow travelers to visit the country for a period of 30 days at one time.

And, the Port of Entry Visas are granted by South African consulates abroad. However, the decision to issue an entry visa will be under the sole discretion of the immigration officials at the port of entry.

It has to be noted by the firms that the decision does not constitute a visa exemption as Indian, Chinese and Russian nationals are still required to apply for the initial visa before traveling. Nonetheless, the visa permits holders to make multiple trips to South Africa till the visa is valid.

Currently, the passport holders of Brazil can take the privilege of visa exemption and do not require to have a visa before they travel to the country for the purpose of business for maximum 90 days. But still, they need to return Brazil to file an application for the 10-year option.

The Department of Home Affairs expects that this decision will fuel the South Africa’s efforts to enhance trade and investment relations between BRICS nations.
