Canada has hit the headlines yet another time for all good reasons. The minister for Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), Chris Alexander, has promulgated that parent and Grandparent super visa program has hit the milestone by granting its 50,000th visa.
Parent and Grandparent super visa is a 10 year multiple entry visa that enables parents as well as grandparents of Canadian permanent residents and nationals to visit their family members who are already in Canada for a maximum period of two consecutive years without any extension status. Following the completion of two years, the visa holder can re-enter Canada under the same status.
This super visa program is a perfect option for people residing in nations which require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter into the Maple Leaf nation, as the visa enables candidates to travel liberally and simply between Canada and their native nation.
Since its inception from 1 December 2011, as a part of Action Plan phase 1 for swifter family immigration, most of the applicants are from China, India, Philippines and other nation.
Applicants should have grandchildren or children, who are Canadian nationals or PR holders, to become eligible for the PGP super visa program. And, applicants should not be prohibited to enter Canada based on health or security conditions. Common-law Partners and spouses are also included on the Super visa, together with the main applicant, excluding dependent children.
Grandparents or parents may also need to meet other specific requirements, based on the visa office they apply.
Chris Alexander stated that Canada super visa program is one of the most liberal family immigration programs in the world. The Canadian government accepts more parents as well as family members than any other developed nations in the world. This visa gives an opportunity for prospective parents and grandparents to accompany their families in Canada for longer periods by paying less renewal fee.
The PGP Super visa program has always been a most popular program of CIC, due to its swifter processing time, usually in a period of three months or less, and around 1,200 visa grants every month, with a 82% approval rate.
Super visa application process is akin to Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). Conversely, extra credentials are needed to ensure that the applicant will be adequately supported during his or her stay in Canada. Additional documentation may include:
The assessment of the application depends on various other factors such as purpose for visiting Canada, maintaining ties with native nation and medical examination results.
