US Now, Accepting The Employment Authorization Application For H-4 Visa Holders

The US authorities have started accepting the employment authorization applications for H-4 visa holders.  These are spouses of H-1B s nonimmigrant workers and earlier they were not allowed to work in the nation.

The United States (DHS) Dept.of Homeland Security since yesterday has started accepting the applications for H-4 Visas.  They also have issued the employment authorization card (EAD0 to certain category of spouses of H-1B visas is one of the legislative measures to be taken by the President Obama in order to fix the immigration system of the nation.

As a result, nearing to 1, 80,000 would be eligible to work in the United States.

DHS have stated that, they will issue EAD within 90 days from the date they have received the application.  

Under the existing regulations, the DHS does not extent the employment authorization to the dependents (they are also known as H-4 immigrants) of H-1V nonimmigrant workers.

The H-4 dependent spouses of certain H-1B nonimmigrant workers can make a request to employment authorization if the H-1 workers has already began the process of seeking for lawful PR through employment.
