The Minister of Employment and Social Development, Jason Kenney, has given a major speech to the 8th Annual State of Island Economic Summit on the Vancouver Island where he focused on government priority on creating jobs and economic growth.
The Summit has brought a number of government, business and community leaders together to negotiate on how to encourage feasible and diversified economy for all the inhabitants of the Vancouver Island region.
At the summit the minister stressed on the Canadian government continuing assurance to creating jobs, economic development, and guarantying the long-standing Canadian economy prosperity.
He conversed regarding the Skills Agenda, the government initiatives to guarantee Canadians have the skills and talents needed for vacant jobs, and focused on the schemes and investments allied to skills training and enhancing labor market enclosure for all Canadians, including for the newcomers, aboriginal individuals and youth.
The minister also outlined the latest amendments to Canada's immigration system to align it precisely according to the needs of Canadian economy.
He highlighted the need for association between all key players, counting the provinces and territories, post-secondary institutions and private sectors to make sure that Canadians are able to completely benefit from economic opportunities.
According to the British Columbia (BC) 2022 Labor market Outlook, there would be 147,200 job opportunities in this region between 2014 and 2022.
