The number of immigrants living in Germany has risen, record high during the last year, as a growing number of Southern Europeans, Syrian and Chinese have entered the Europe’s largest economy in search of employment as well as security.
As per the federal statistic office, they stated that during the last year about 10.09 million immigrants have lived in Germany and in 2013 more than 390,000 and in 2011 more than 1 million.
Finding employment remained the biggest motivation to enter Germany, in reflection of the country’s economic strength. Germany’s labor market is the most vibrant in the entire eurozone and the wages are rising fast amid the shortage of the skilled workers.
Since 2011, there has been steady rise in immigration and it is promise of a new start. The German federal statistics agency Destatis said that, increasing number of well educated young professionals is entering the economy.
Since 2011, in all about 620,000 people have flocked to Germany from other parts of the European Union. In 2014, the number of Spanish and Greek immigrants living in Germany was up by 41.8% and 17.4% in 2011. We also find that, since 2011, the number of Syrian immigrants have nearly doubled to 72,0000 in 2014, in light of a severe humanitarian crises as the country remains mired in the civil war.
Economist say, given its rapidly aging society as well as endemic skills shortages in few regions and sectors, the Rising immigration is considered as boon to Germany. In July report, the International Monetary fund, it warned that, the population is aging fast despite record immigration, which will increase harm growth prospects after 2020.
This particular trend was visible in their statistic report last year, Germany’s native population shrank to 64.5 million or about 890,000 less than in 2011. About 20.3% of the population or about 16.4 million people had migrant backgrounds in 2014.
