New Amendments Made To The English Language Test Scores

Starting from 18 April 2015, Minimum English language test scores for the Skilled –Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) and Recognized Graduate (subclass 476) visas have changed

If the applicant lodges, his/her application for either of the above visas on or after 18th April. Then the applicant is required to provide the evidence of achieved one of the following condition in a test taken three years immediately prior to lodging their visa application.

• The overall score must be minimum six  and should not be below five in each of the 4 test components (writing, reading, speaking and listening) in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test
• In each of the 4 test components (writing, reading, speaking and listening) of an OET(Occupational English Test), a score of minimum B.
• A total score should be minimum 64 and nothing less than 36 in each of the 4 test components (writing, reading, speaking and listening) in TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet –based test.
• An overall score of minimum 50 with nothing below 36 in each of the 4 test components (writing, reading, speaking and listening) in a Pearson Test of English Academic.
• An overall of minimum 169 and nothing less than 154 in each of the 4 test components (writing, reading, speaking and listening) in a Cambridge English: CAE (Advanced test undertaken on or after 1 Jan 2015.

The above change means; the competent English requirement is no longer applicable to both subclasses 485 and 476.

Only minimum English Scores would change. The applicant will still needs to meet the English requirement if they hold a  valid passport,  which has been issued by following countries such as  the United States of America, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland or New Zealand.
