Nova Scotia Annouces New Advisory Council On Immigration

Premier of Nova Scotia, Stephen McNeil has announced the establishment of advisory council to aid more number of immigrants to enter Nova Scotia.

At present, Nova Scotia Nominee program, which is an available stream for immigrants to file applications for permanent residency visa to Canada, has a maximum limit of 150 in number.

Tory leader, Baillie said that a better job market is significant in attracting immigrants into the province.

Moreover, the province announced certain changes to some services, which help immigrants to come and settle. YMCA’s, which are outside Halifax, are given 470,000 for child care and additional services to aid immigrants to settle in the country. Immigrants, looking for jobs in Halifax will depend on Immigration Settlement and Integration Services (ISIS) for training.

A total of 2,500 immigrants are welcomed in to the nation each year. However, in order to see a growth in the economy the province requires approximately three times the present immigrant population in the province.
