In a bid to attract more employees from overseas nations, Australia is ready to ease the work visa process. The government of Australia is keen to wrap up the continuing free trade agreement (FTA) discussions with India by the end of December 2015.
A special package has been offered by the Australian government on work visas and seeks lower commitments in the dairy field.
The Foreign Affairs Minister of Australia, Julie Bishop, has told to the leading news channel that FTA is the second milestone in the ties with India and the government is likely to conclude it by the end of the year.
The government of Australia wants a better access to India’s markets, as it economy is reducing and its trading partners like Japan and China are also not performing well.
Even, the Indian government is responding to its interest, as it wants to maintain strong ties with vital partners.
India, which is eager on better mobility for its labor force, can be given a special package on visas.
The Federal government official said that, based on the particular demands in construction sector in Australia has created a special package of FTA with China and now it is planning to do the same thing for India.
He said that after taking the complete requirements, the government can sit along with immigration officers and observe what can be made possible.
Sources said that there exist a large number of Indian IT firms in Australia, which includes Infosys, Wipro, MindTree as well as TCS, and the government must ease the visa rules for professionals as well as grant visas at a faster pace.
Australia is also planning to lower its ambitions in the dairy field. The officials of the country understand sensitiveness that India has in dairy. The government wants to get into fields where they can assist rather than contend, such as hi-tech areas and high-end items.
The country is also keen for Indian to provide more in fields such as education, financial services as well as tourism. Around $2.3 billion exports were made from India to Australia in 2013-14 and around $9.8 billion was imported.
