Australia Streamlines Visa Processing For Luring International Students

11 May 2015

Immigration News

Australia has been called to introduce quality rating, while determining, whether the particular university or college is entitled to relax visa processing, by the immigration representatives. This call is even supported by the Productivity Commission from the global education industry. Concerns regarding compromised quality came into force, when a large number of international students are applying for an Australia student visa to pursue their studies in Down Under.

In fact, according to the Australian ¬Bureau of Statistics recent data, till March, overseas students contributed a record of $17.5 billion to the country’s economy, the highest since 2009.

The Productivity Commission reported on the international education that streamlined visa processing is perceived by prospective students as a stamp of quality and the system perverse reasons such as students using SVP obtain a visa as well as hopping into an easy or affordable course.

Apparently, competition for overseas students is increasing. In order to maintain Australia as a desirable destination, the country needs education providers to offer better learning experiences that match with students’ expectations. Even the Australian government, need to make sure that its broader immigration as well as education policy settings support this purpose.

Presumably, the maintaining of global education is closely related to authoritarian settings than other sectors. The regulatory or authoritarian settings around student visas and the quality of education are vital to maintain Australia’s global education sector.

Reportedly, most of the Australian institutions rely on agents to lure students and when agents may be a vital part of marketing, education, thus institutions must actively minimize their use of agents and rely on direct recruitment.

For international students, Australia offers high quality education and it meets student’s expectations. The country’s share of the world-wide education market is around 6% however, it has one of the major concentrations of overseas students in overall national tertiary registrations, with approximately 20% of total students registered in higher education coming from foreign nations.

In 2014, there were over 450,000 international students came to Australia on student visas. An additional 160,000 were registered in the program delivered by Australian institutions abroad.
