With an intention to allure Indian tourists and reinforce the business relations between Australia and India, the tourism industry has proposed that Australia must launch visa-on-arrival facility for the Indian travelers visiting Australia. The process of extending visa-on-arrival facility for Australian tourists has already initiated by India.
Tourism plays a major role in strengthen the mutual trade between the two nations. The president of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Subhash Goyal, said that every year a record number of Indians visits Australia and thus, the facility of visa-on-arrival facility must be extended by the government of Australia.
In accordance with a Tourism Australia report, India is likely to contribute between $1.9 billion and $2.3 billion each year by 2020. In 2013, the 11th major inbound tourism market in Australia is India, with travelers spending $0.7 billion in the country.
One of the world’s best rising outbound travel markets is India. The United Nations World Tourism Organization is envisaging 50 million outbound visitors by 2020.
The tourism industry expects that Indian tourists arriving to Australia will climb by 6% during 2014-15. A recently released report by Tourism Australia stated that a yearly complex increase rate of 7% anticipated until 2017-18.
Initially in the year 2000, around 41,000 Indian travelers arrived to Australia, which has increased at a compound yearly increase rate of 12.3% to reach 148,200 travelers in 2011.
In the projections of Tourism 2020, the second fastest growth rate is seen in India, following by China. On the other hand, India, too, witnessed a rise by 29% in the entries of Australian visitors in 2012 whereas approximately 2,20,000 Australian visitors flocked India in the previous year.
