During the annual budget, the federal government has announced that under new measures Australia visa system will be streamlined further. This streamlined visa process makes individuals travelling process easier and safer.
The Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Peter Dutton, said that the minimized red tape process and launch of several initiatives offers various benefits for international visitors, the travel industry, visa applicants, importers and exporters.
The new faultless traveler initiative would see the roll out of latest technology, subsuming SmartGates, at seaports and airports. Over the next five years, nearly $93.7 million will be spent for the rollout of next generation automated biometric processing.
Peter Dutton said that the augmented biometric capability reduces manual processes, enabling a swift, faultless self processing experience for a maximum of 90% visitors and allow border control officers to focus on passengers of interest.
Amendments to Australia’s skilled as well as temporary migration would see 25 visa subclasses combined into a simplified visa system providing an easier process for visa applicants.
According to the Dutton, these reforms deliver $19.9 million in savings as well as $37.2 million in additional revenue in the impending four years and would also boost the system integrity as well as border security and distribute a more efficient service. He said latest measures in 2015 budget are another example of Australian government dedication in reducing red tape and providing streamlined services to the visa applicants.
The government of Australia also confirmed to spend a maximum of $400 million in extra finance to maintain a new border enforcement agency which is going to operate from 01 July 2015.
