Best Country In Attracting And Retaining Top Talent Is Switzerland

According to the GTC (Global Talent Competitiveness) Index, launched by European business school ‘Insead’, Switzerland stand on the top in the list of countries that best develop, attract and retain top talent.

In the new GTC Index, 103 countries are rated on 48 factors including quality of life, education and government policy.

Standing first in the list by excelling in all categories was Switzerland. According to the report, Switzerland stood out for its long-established commitment to top quality education.

Placed second in the Index was Singapore. The authors of the Index noted that Singapore was extremely competitive due to its clear strategy to grow and attract the brightest and best employees. The United States trailed in the ninth place.

The index was created, to a certain extent, to help international companies recognize which countries are most effective in constructing a talented workforce.

The Dean of Insead, Ilian Mihov said in a statement that there is an extensive disparity between what local labor markets can offer in terms of skills and what companies need. Mihov added that obviously, these issues need a collaborative effort among global business schools, government, organized labor and business.

European countries including Sweden, Denmark, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Finland and the Netherlands dominated the Insead ranking.

In part the US ranking reflected its long history of success in attracting top international talent and immigration.

Most of the top-ranked nations also brag about some of the world’s shortest work weeks and the most generous perks and benefits for working dads and moms.

The Insead index was launched in partnership with Adecco, a HR consulting firm and the Singapore’s HCLI (Human Capital Leadership Institute).

The index was based on data from various international sources like UNESCO, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Bank, and the ranking model was audited by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission.
