Canada Liberal Immigration Laws Make It Best Destination For Techies

Canada’s easier immigration and visa process is making it easy for Indian techie entrepreneurs and even venture capitalists and thus the country is becoming the best choice of destination.

Chris Alexander, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister, said to TOI that permanent residence will be offered to all talented youngsters with technical knowledge who can obtain Canadian venture capital or an investor to sponsor them with funds or with time.

No other country in the world has declared this offer. It’s a pilot project, and a couple of hundred applications are already in the process, he added.

Further, if applicants are self-investors they can obtain Canada permanent residence easily. Indians who worked as a manager or principal for one year can apply for permanent residence.

Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon are a few tech companies that have arranged campuses in Vancouver to gain benefit from simpler visa and immigration laws, which can make Canada attractive to more number of migrants from other nations like India.

Indians achieve high points in the acceptability chart due to good English education and skills. Philippines, China and India are three nations which are in league as leading sources of immigration to Canada.

The Minister said that in 2013, more than 33,000 Indian immigrants moved to Canada of which 60% were economic travelers and remaining were families.

Canada approved over 1,30,000 visitor visas for citizens of India in 2013, and approximately 14,000 students travelled to Canada for education from India.
