Jason Kenney, Canada’s minister for Employment and Social Development and Chris Alexander, Canada’s Minister for Citizenship and Immigration, have announced that Canadian government in association with territories and province will enhance foreign credential recognition for ten more precedence occupations, which includes healthcare and trade.
Electricians, carpenters, geoscientists, heavy equipment operators, heavy duty equipment technicians, speech language pathologists and audiologist’s, welders, psychologists, lawyers and midwives are the ten new precedence occupations.
Skilled trade occupations were chosen due to the reason that these occupations have demand in some regions and sectors of the nation, whereas health care occupations were chosen as they help to address shortages in skills and enhance the quality of Canadians life.
These occupations are constituent of the national framework that intends to streamline foreign credential recognition for precedence occupations, for which service standards have been recognized .Subsequently, internationally trained professionals can get their qualifications assessed inside one year at any place across Canada.
Jason Kenney said that new priority occupations of the government will cause growth in the economy, long- term prosperity and create new jobs.
Skilled newcomers will make a major contribution to the economy of Canada. For this reason, foreign credential recognition is accelerated by adding ten more occupations, the minister added.
