Jobindex A/S (JOBND: CPH), the Danish online job board reported that during December 2013, 18,900 Danish jobs were advertised online, which is a raise of 1,000 Danish jobs compared to the November month. It also represents the 4th consecutive month of growth in Danish jobs.
The index has reached its highest level since October 2008, due to the latest growth in the number of online job advertisements. Citing seasonal impact and remaining characteristically cautious on job numbers, Dansk Jobindex is reluctant to declare that the Danish job market has recovered fully.
However, the Jobindex reported that the figures of December complement an ongoing positive trend; hence, it is logical to conclude that the Danish jobs market is improving.
Jobindex pointed out that ‘Rome was not built in a day’, and added that the latest month-on-month raises are not definite proof that the labor market crisis is over. However, they continue to be optimistic that the Danish jobs trend is moving in the right direction.
Despite the latest growth in online job advertisements, the number is still well under that recorded before the financial crisis. Prior to September 2008, more than 30,000 new Danish jobs were posted online per month. That number dropped as low as 13,000 jobs posted online each month in 2009. The development in the labor market can be traced to both the public and private sectors, with the highest improvement noted in the public sector.
