According to the list from Shanghai Jiao Tong university, the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) arched into the top 20 highest ranked universities in the world.
Headed by Harvard and followed by Stanford, University of California, Berkeley, MIT and the University of Cambridge, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) was ranked ahead of the University of Tokyo in the list.
The Zurich technical university’s 20th place ranking marked an improvement from 23rd in the 2012 Shanghai list. Apply for a Study Visa to Switzerland to join one of the top 20 Universities in the World.
Among other Swiss institutions, the University of Basel edged up from 85th place to 83rd place, the University of Geneva remained unchanged at 69th while the University of Zurich dropped from 59th place to 60th place.
Founded in 1854, ETH Zurich’s mission is to educate scientists and engineers, frequently appears as the highest ranked Swiss university in comparative assessments.
QS World University Rankings rated it the best university in continental Europe in 2012, ranking it 18th in the world.
The Zurich engineering, science, technology, mathematics and management university's famous former students include renowned physicist Albert Einstein. It has produced 23 Nobel laureates till date.
ETH offers an extensive number of courses in English in addition to German and boasts of an enrolment of around 17,200 students on 2 campuses.
