Indians Constitute 50% Of Austin Permanent Visa Applicants, Study Reveals

Indian visa applicants have constituted approximately 50 percent of the 283 Austin’s permanent visa applications in 2012 and 2013, revealed a study by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The study has shown that Indians have made up 141 visa applications for work and residence in Austin, of which 124 were approved. China holds the second place, constituting 24 visa applications followed by Canada, Mexico, Taiwan and South Korea.

Freescale Semiconductor Inc. stands in the leading position among local companies for applying permanent visas, which holds 82 applications. While, Ascendant Technology stood in the second place holding 12 applications followed by PayPal Data Services Inc. holding ten applications.

The newcomers are expected to join the workforce of Austin as software developers. Engineering managers and electronics engineers hold the second and the third positions respectively in terms of popularity of job titles.

Majority of the people are traveling to Austin to work in the fields of Information Technology. Finance and retail sectors are regarded to be the next prominent sectors.
