Ireland has hit the headlines yet another time for all good reasons. In the previous year, Irish Naturalization and Immigration Service (INIS) have received a record number of visa, residence as well as citizenship applications, which is an all time record.
Sources said that the according to the recently released research figures, a huge rise in number of immigrants coming to Ireland from Non-EU nations has increased.
According to the Provisional figures, at the end of previous year there were around 95,000 non-European Economic Area (EEA) citizens with consent to stay in the State.
All the interested non-EEA nationals who are willing to remain in the nation for more than 90 days are required to enroll with An Garda Siochana.
At present, the major six country nationalities accounting more than 50% of total registered people to remain in the state are from Brazil with 12%, India with 11%, China with 9%, USA with 7%, Nigeria with 6% and the Philippines with 5%. Most of the people remaining in the state are for the purpose of education and employment.
On a whole in the previous year, around 172,000 fresh applications for visa, residence, citizenship and protection were received by the INIS.
Decisions were has granted for approximately 179,000 cases and around 92,000 new or renewed registrations of consent to stay in the State were granted by the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
In the previous year, provisional figures shows that around 101,500 entry visa applications for both short as well as long stay visits were received, which represents a rise of 6% from 2013 plus a cumulative rise of 22% compare to earlier years. Approximately 91% of entry visa applications are approved and the top 5 nationalities lodging applications for visas in 2014 are were from India with 17%, China with 11%, Russia with 14%, Nigeria with 6% and Saudi Arabia with 5%.
