The building on the Halifax waterfront was the entry point for nearing to 100,000 immigrants to Canada between the 1928 and 1971.
In the year 1990, the immigration facility was restored as a heritage site, Ruth Goldbloom, spearheaded the project.

To mark the museum opening day, an official ceremony was organized. Among those who spoke about their own experience At Pier 21 was Canada Associate Minister of Defence, Julian Fantiono, had said, 62 years ago, in the year 1953, it was here, that he first set his foot on the Canadian soil. And for my Wife Liviana, It was in the year 1958, Fantiono has told the crowd, who has gathered here to see the museum, I still remember the experience it seems, it was just yesterday.
The exhibits at the museum help tell the story of Canadian immigration, from hundreds of years ago, to now. They also help in allowing the visitors to take a closer look at the journey many families tend to start in order to have a new life in Canada.
Kovacevic told the Global news that In order to understand Canada, they need to understand a little bit of immigration and that what we re doing here.
Pier 21 is the known to be last surviving immigration facilities in Canada. Between the year 1928 and 1971, more than one million immigrants have come to Canada through the terminal.
Most people arrived in this nation, with nothing more than the determination to succeed and had a desire to build as well as continue to contribute.
