Quebec Skilled Worker Program, Most General Immigration Stream

While immigration, to maple leaf country has observed major changes on the federal level. The Quebec has been continuously offering varied possibilities of moving to the nation via its own programs. This summer, this step will help in achieving renewed boost intake.

Two programmes characterize the immigration stream to Quebec, The (QSWP) Quebec skilled worker’s programme and (QIP) Quebec investor Program. Most of the application would be accepted through the first programme, the intake date has still not yet been announced yet/

QSWP (Quebec Skilled Worker Programme)

The QSWP is a most general immigration stream when compared with Programme for  Federal Skilled worker. We also find that, lenient criteria have been introduced in the province of Quebec. And it is

The Most recent application cycle started on April 1, 2014 and it has lasted till March 31, this year. However, the applicable cap of nearing to 6500 was filled within mere 4 months, and the new application intake date has still not yet been announced. Expectations are that the program would be re-opened this summer.

In the meantime, the province has also made an announcement regarding changes in the new application cycle. This year, nearing to 6,300 applications would be accepted; a further reduction compared to the previous years, the application cycle starting in 2013 offered a chance to the 20,000 applicants.

We also find that, the area of training list has been  changed even for this year’s cycle.  It does Specify which occupations are more on the demand, the Canadian provinces have stated that, the candidates should have qualifications in one of the training fields on the list.

With the new list, the individuals who tend to have degrees in varied fields such as computer engineering, accounting, translation and banking as well as financial operations would be awarded a significantly more number of points than the earlier.

Quebec does apply point based system; considerable emphasis has been placed on the language. The applicant can receive a maximum of 22 points for the language. Upto 16 points are awarded for proficiency in French and upto 6 in English . And for Area of training, 6-16 points are allotted.

QIP(Quebec Investor Programme)

The more limited QIP is tailored in order to encourage the wealthy immigrants not only to invest, but also to settle in the Quebec province. The programme only suits a limited number of individuals, but the application intake  is highly contested each year.

The govt of Quebec has made announcement that intake period of applications will be from August 31, 2015 to January 29, 2016.

There will be a maximum of 1750 applications are accepted for processing, with not more than 1200 applications accepted from a single nation.

Although the intake cap still remains the same, the application cycle has been increased with regards to length. Traditionally, the programme would offer applicants a month to submit their application. In order to facilitate the applicants who need more time, the cycle has been extended to include almost three months earlier this year.

The applicant or accompanied with his spouse should have a minimum a net asset worth of CAD 1.6 million.

An agreement is  also needed to  be signed in order to invest CAD 800,000 with an authorized financial intermediary, so that, it would be easy to participate in the investor Program, and the applicant must have acquired a minimum of 2 years, management experience in the past five years.
