Harrison added that the new rules will eliminate the need for good faith deposit in which the applicants were required to invest $75,000. The announcement of new rules will enable candidates to use these funds towards settlement and start-up costs.
In addition to these, the government is planning to introduce a new online expression of interest system will require applicants to submit the necessary information. Moreover, candidates are required to undergo a self-assessment to prioritize applications as per the objective point grid instead of traditional first-come, first-served process.
Harrison stressed that candidates who qualify the process will have their applications processed at a faster pace. Further, he added that the move to the new online application system will help to reduce the backlog rate.
