Student visa applications processed for higher studies in the United States has seen a rise of 37% in May 2014, accounting for 2,731, being the highest ever in the recent times.
While 1300 interviews will be held every day of this week, at least 1500 interviews would be conducted on Wednesday alone of which 200 to 300 interviews will relate to student visas, according to Nicholas J Manring, American Consulate General of Chennai.
The number of F1 visa application processed at Chennai consulate during the period of 01 December 2013 and 31 May 2014 were 8000, an increase from 5000 during the same period of time in previous year.
Growth rate has been huge in the number of students aspiring to pursue higher education and post graduate courses especially in the field of information technology, while the students applying for undergraduate courses has been trivial. Besides, there has been a remarkable growth in the number of applications to community colleges.
Nicholas J Manring suggested the students about being honest to interviewer and explain their educational goals genuinely. Besides he also asked them not to submit any fake documents as the interviewer mainly relies on how the candidate presents himself in the interview than the documents submitted.
