The Citizenship and Immigration Canada has made some new announcements regarding three of its key and popular programs. These programs are Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program, Federal Skilled Trades (FST) program and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program. The changes made in these announcements are to be implemented from May 1st, 2014 onwards.
Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program
According to the announcement, as for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program, it will be accepting a total of 25,000 applications. And there is a cap of 1,000 applications per each eligible occupation. And luckily for the applicants, the list of eligible occupations comprise of some of the most common occupations. These include, for example, senior managers – financial, communications and other business services (NOC 0013), financial managers (0111), purchasing managers (0113)¸ managers in health care (0311), home building and renovation managers (0712), software engineers and designers (2173), manufacturing managers (0911), database analysts and data administrators (2172), information systems analysts and consultants (2171), financial auditors and accountants (1111), dietitians and nutritionists (3132), university professors and lecturers (4011), psychologists (4151). Thus, it can be observed that the list of eligible occupations is both comprehensive and has common and popular occupations as well as the less common ones, too.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program
The FST is for those who have work experience in a skilled trade. And as per the federal skilled trades announcement, from May, 1st, 2014, onwards, this program will accept a total of 5,000 applications. All of those occupations which are NOC level B trades are eligible to apply under this program. A maximum of 100 applications would be accepted under any single occupation, in this program. In all, there are 90 eligible occupations and these can be categorized under a few major groups/heads. Some of these groups are: Major Group 82: Supervisors and technical occupations in national resources, agriculture and related production; Major Group 72: Industrial, electrical and construction trades; Minor Group 632: chefs and cooks; and some more of them.
Canadian Experience Class Program
The CEC program is for those individuals who already have Canadian skilled work experience. This program will accept a maximum of 8,000 new applications. Under this program, an individual under any skilled occupations is eligible to apply (except six of them which include occupations such as Administrative officers (NOC 1221), Accounting technicians/bookkeepers (1311), Retail sales supervisors (6211), etc,). But also, it is true that occupations which are NOC B level occupations have a cap of 100 applications per occupation.
