As a consequence of the plans that were announced by David Cameron, Prime minister of UK, it is expected that the IT professionals of India will benefit from the ‘exceptional talent’ visas that has been announced by the government of Britain. The ‘exceptional Talent’ visa is intended to attract individuals, who are highly talented in the sector of digital technology.
The extension of the visa has been a part of David Cameron’s initiative to establish a ‘Tech City UK’ in east London. The proposition for the visa was announced during last December. However, it came in to effect on 13th March, 2014. This expansion of the visa would encourage all the talented individuals to immigrate to Britain for the purpose of setting up of companies.
Until now, the ‘Exception Talent’ (Tier1) route of visa has been intended to attract the talented individuals from the fields of engineering, science, medicine, arts and humanities. All the apex organizations such as British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering, Arts Council England and the Royal Society have to endorse the applicants.
According to the official sources, there is no necessity for those IT professionals, who are applying for a visa through the available route of ‘Exception Talent’ (Tier1) now, to have a sponsoring employer. However, the applications have to be authenticated by ‘Tech City UK’.
James Brokenshire, Immigration and security minister, has said that the changes introduced in this visa category would ensure that United Kingdom will remain competitive in attracting world-wide talent to work for businesses in Britain.
However, there was no information provided on the number of visas that would be granted yearly in this category.
