Here’s some good news for Indian students who would like to study and work in UK. The director for Growth and Engagement, Jeremy Oppenheim, said that students from India are welcomed to reside in the UK, if they found a job.
The leading officials from the UK home office said that there were some misinterpretations that due to the visa regime, the number of Indian students heading to the UK has dipped over the past two years. And the country would like to dispel such fears among business individuals and students.
Sources said that visa processing centre at Chennai, is performing its best and processing the visa applications in a faster pace that is, in a maximum period of 15 days.
Taking the students concerns into consideration, Mr Oppenheim accepted that there was a perception that the UK visa process is a bit complicated, in spite of which 91% of visas were issued to Indians.
Mr Oppenheim said that though the post study work visa system is closed the students are encouraged to reside in the country if they could find a job. He added that during the past 12 months UK has granted 4,02,000 visas.
At present, the number of students in the UK is steady, Mr Oppenheim said.
If students want to stay in the UK even after their education they should find an employer. He added that students must start their job search during their study.
