Training Pass is for executive who is going for intra transfer from head office to Singapore office or for student coming for internship in his/her undergraduate study. There are 2 types of training passes available:

• Training Employment Pass

The Training Employment Pass is a type of Singapore work visa that permits foreign trainees to work and live in Singapore for a period of between 6 – 12 months. This visa is suitable for intra-company training where the head office sends foreign employees to Singapore for training or for foreign students doing their internships.

• Training Work Permit

This is for semi-skilled or unskilled foreign trainees undergoing training in Singapore for up to six months. It is also applicable for foreign students studying in private educational institutions in Singapore. Employers hiring Training Work Permit holders will be charged a levy. Please note that the following foreign trainees will not qualify for a Training Work Permit:

1.      Foreigners on Short Term Visit Pass for Social Purposes (excluding Malaysians)

2.      Foreigners earning a monthly basic salary of more than $2,500 and/or holding recognized                    tertiary or professional qualifications

The Training Employment Pass would instead be applicable for these foreign trainees.

Documents needed for the application of the above two types of permits are:

For Training Employment Pass Application Form

• A detailed training programme stating objective of training, type etc.
• Applicant’s educational documents
• Photograph of the applicant (passport-sized and taken within last three months          
• Personal particulars page of applicant’s passport/travel document

Note: Applicants who hold non-English documents or certificates are required to submit a copy of the original papers and the official English translation certified by the respective embassy.

For Training Work Permit application form

• A letter from the local employer stating training purpose, duration etc.
• For trainees who are employees of a foreign company, the letter from local employers should also include: 

1.      The relationship between the local and overseas companies (e.g. subsidiary, associate, joint venture, customer, sub-contractor, etc)

2.      Documents to show the relationship between the local and overseas companies (e.g. annual reports, tax invoices, contracts, etc.)

• Foreign students studying in private educational institutions in Singapore should produce a copy of their student pass and a letter stating:

1.      Field of study

2.      Course duration

3.      Course registration date and expected graduation date

4.      That training is part of the course requirement

5.      Required training period

Note: Applicants who hold non-English documents or certificates are required to submit a copy of the original papers and the official English translation certified by the respective embassy, University/College.
