International Travelling or Immigration has the following  series of steps  like authenticating visa, validating  passports, scanning luggage and even biometrics or retina scans . But the US border security and US customs have decided to notch this a bit by  proposing to  add Facebook, twitter and other social media accounts in the existing visa forms.

This  will be added on both online and paper  visa application forms. It applies for all the applicants who are applying for a visa or who are coming down to US for 90 days. The question regarding the social media information will come on ESTA and I-94W forms. It is still optional information, but the proposed change is sure to stay as  the US customs is confident that this will enhance the investigative process and provide DHS a better clarity and visibility to possible dreadful activity.This  will provide a 3-dimentional view or  an additional tool set, which the analysts can use to investigate any heinous activity.  

While this Social media information will help the security of the nation, the entire process is still under IT consultation until 22nd August. Currently, a limited amount of social media posts are being scanned and it’s an unsettling thought for others If at all your social information is suspicious  or has any kind of links regarding any unfortunate incident., you may  be detained and kept under investigation. Hence one must be very careful of what they are sharing or posting on social sites as this is a direct representation of your online reputation or credentials.
