Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) in Australia, is trying to diffuse the existing discussion, whether Muslim immigrants are discriminated in visa application and also whether they should be welcomed in Australia due to the recent events of terrorism which are led by ISIS and IS supporters around the world.
The government is also trying some strategies which will create difficulties for a large number of muslim immigrants coming from the middle east to settle in Australia. Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the DIBP denies the government strategy and called it a ‘deliberate step’ and he confirmed that the Immigration department of Australia will never ask for the religion of applicants when they are applying for an Australian Visa.
The Australian Immigration policy focuses on attracting skilled workers and the people who want to reunite with their families who are already residing in Australia. It also attracts the immigrants from the countries like India and China.
There has been an analysis which also revealed that, once Islam was a rising religion in Australia. But currently there are more Buddhists compared to Muslims. According to the experts, there are some politicians who support other religions openly, such as Christians and Jewish over Muslims. As the general elections are over, a much more open debate will happen on the future of Australian Immigration Policies for Muslim Immigrants. But the Immigration Minister has denied that the Australian Immigration will never discriminate immigrants based on their religion.
