Latest Canada Express Entry Draw Invites 3000 Candidates

Immigration authorities in Canada conducted an Express Entry draw, where 3,000 candidates received Invitations to apply for seeking the Permanent residence to Canada through all programs. The CRS score required was 442, which was the same as the case in the previous draw.

This was the fourth Express Entry draw held in 2018 and was the 84^th when all draws are considered. In the new format, the authorities can fix the number of invitations worth issuing.  When the number of candidates having the lowest score exceeds the number of permitted invitations, they can use the tie-break mechanism for issuing invitations as per the first time of arrival and stamping basis.

For this draw, the first 3,000 profiles existing in the Express Entry Pool had the eligibility to receive an Invitation to Apply. 

Reasons for this Change

The modified format permits officials to have a better control in implementing a more polished method to select an exact number of aspirants for issuing an ITA.  In the previous system, this was not possible.

This draw has continued the trend in the Express Entry where the minimum CRS score was less than 500. It was the 17^th draw after the draw held in June 2017 when the modification was introduced.

Express Entry immigration system was implemented by IRCC on January 1^st, 2015 to manage applications of skilled workers under the Federal Economic programs. They are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canada Experience Class, the Skilled Trades Program and some of the Provincial Nomination Programs. There is an expectation that 30 draws will be held and 70,000 invitations will be issued in the present year, and several draws will have a CRS score which is below 450 for the authorities to meet their targeted levels for the year.
