Australia is on spree of changing rules to its visa’s which is good news to many, but few rules are bothering set of people. Australia government have announced changes to its popular 457 visa which allows international residents to work in Australia sponsored by an Australian business, under standard business sponsorship or under a labor agreement with the Australian Immigration Department. These changes will come into force in January 2017.
The new rules will hit the 457 visa holders living with children in South Australia in the form of children school fees. Starting from January 2017, any newly arriving 457 visa holders will be entitled to a fee to cover the cost of education for their children in Australian government schools. This fee will purely depend on the individual’s financial circumstances, as the annual fee ranges around $5,100 AUD for primary school and $6,100 for high school going children. However, starting from January 2018 this fee will be applicable to all 457 visa holders living in South Australia irrespective of their arrival date in Australia.
Contribution fee will be charged towards only for the Australia 457 visa holders whose gross income hits or exceeds more than $77,000 AUD per annum, this income includes the earnings of both husband and wife. The same will not be charged for the 457 visa holder who does not earn more than $57,000 gross income per annum. A sight of relief is the threshold of maximum fee payable is increased to $10,000 AUD for each additional child, this shows that a family with two school aged children will not pay complete fee unless their yearly gross income is $87,000 AUD or more.
These new changes are attracting more 457 visa holders towards Permanent Residency visa, as these rules are not applicable to Australia Permanent Residents.
