Quebec Adopted Pre November 1 Rules Again Under Quebec Experience Program From November 14

Global graduates who appeal to the Quebec Experience Program will be evaluated once again based on the requirements that were in place before 1 November 2019. This reform became operative from 14 November.

The Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) is a successful fast-track immigration stream that enables qualified global graduates from Quebec schools and temporary immigrant workers residing and working in the Quebec province to apply for PR selection.

New criteria launched on 1 November 2019 were broadly criticized as unfair to appellants already residing in Quebec, making the Quebec province’s Immigration Minister named Simon Jolin-Barrette, to backtrack and return the earlier requirements.

The focus of the public anger over the latest criteria was on the two new lists that restricted eligibility to particular areas of training for global graduates and targeted professions for temporary immigrant workers.

These limitations did not exist before 1 November 2019 and would have unqualified plenty of former eligible students & also workers in the province of Quebec.

Reformation of New PEQ Criteria

Jolin-Barrette, Quebec province’s Immigration Minister has pledged to reform the lists in discussion with the Quebec province’s business and academic communities.

The criteria launched on 1 November 2019 started the P.E.Q to graduates who have completed their studies in Quebec for a minimum of 900 hours (equivalent to one year) and have a minimum of 6 months of work experience in the province of Quebec in their field of training that was received after graduation.

Ministry of Quebec Immigration says applicants who met these criteria and who appealed within 1 November and 13 November will be evaluated based on the selection requirements that commanded on 1 November 2019.

As of 14 November 2019, applicants with degrees of within 900 and 1,799 hrs are no longer suitable for the P.E.Q due to the return to the criteria of pre-November 1.
