AIPP Update : Intermediate-skilled Spouses Can Apply For Open Work Permit
11 May 2019
An update to the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program will now enable primary applicants intermediate-skilled spouses allowed below the program to appeal for an open work permit.
Recent Update about Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
The modification will provide a better kind of life to skilled immigrants, and their families who arrived in Atlantic Canada to work, I.R.C.C announced in a news release.
I.R.C.C used examples such as beverage and food servers and long-haul truck drivers to represent professions that need intermediate-level skills.
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (A.I.P.P) was launched in the year 2017 to promote the hiring of intermediate-skilled and highly
skilled workers as well as global graduates to the Atlantic region of Canada.
The modification responds to important feedback about the program, I.R.C.C stated. We understand the value of spouses having the capability to access the labor market in the Atlantic region immediately, the press release announced.
Before the update, only principal applicants spouses in highly-skilled jobs, such as medical doctors, managers, architects, and other similar types of professions could appeal for a
work permit of Canada.
Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
The
Atlantic Immigration pilot program was started in the year 2017 as part of a collective initiative to improve the growth of the economy in Atlantic provinces by bringing skilled workers. The Canadian Atlantic provinces comprise New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.
To qualify for the AIPP, applicants need to have an approved job offer. Normally, to get a job offer from Canada valid for the intention of immigration, the candidate should get an LMIA. It is not mandatory for the AIPP. Alternatively, the employment offer should be from a selected employer. In the year 2018, the AIPP aims to welcome 2,500 newcomers to the Atlantic region of Canada, with aims rising to 4,000 by the year 2020.
