In the recent Express Entry draw the authorities in Canada issued 3,500 Invitations to Applicants who are seeking permanent residence. The least CRS score was 441, which was similar to the previous draw. The present draw was the 9th round of invitations in 2018 and overall it was 89th.
This new format, gives the immigration authorities a right to set an accurate number of invitations that can be issued. In case the number of candidates, having the least score, exceeds the number of invitations allowed, the authorities can use the tie-breaking method for issuing the invitations. The consideration for issuing them is the timing of first arrival and need the certification of a time-stamp.
Moreover, when more than one candidate meets the standard of the lowest score, the cut-off depends on the date and time of submitting the Express Entry profiles. The highest number of candidates who received such invitation in a draw after this change is 3,500.
Furthermore, in this draw, the first 3,500 profiles appearing in the pool passed the Express Entry eligibility criteria to get the Invitation to Apply on a cut-off score of 441.
Reasons of this Change
This format gives better control to the immigration administrators in implementing a finer method to select the accurate number of candidates to get the ITA. In the past this was not possible.
Moreover, even after the recent changes, the draw has the lowest CRS score lower than 500. The Express Entry has been in existence since January 1, 2015 and manages applications of skilled workers in Economic programs. The programs are the Skilled Trades Program, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Canada Experience Class apart from some Provincial Nomination Programs.
Experts believe that 30 draws will be held and more than and 70,000 candidates will receive invitations in 2018. Most of the draws have a CRS score that is lower than 450. This will help the immigration authorities to meet the annual immigration target of 2018.
Employers must consider securing an LMIA/nomination in a provincial nomination program to retain the employees for a long time.
Many applicants who intend to receive an ITA in the Express Entry system in the present year need a CRS score that is lower than 450. This will help them to get a Canadian PR without having a job offer or PNP nomination.
