The Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is swiftly moving ahead and taking measures to launch ‘Express Entry System’, intended for skilled and qualified immigrants, in 2015.
Previously known as Expression of Interest, the Express Entry System is a new model designed to carry out a flexible, fairer and quicker immigration system to fill open vacancies in Canada.
As a part of the measures to launch the new active recruitment model next year, Citizenship and Immigration Canada made crucial changes to three of its economic immigration programs named Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Programs (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) by adding new occupations and caps. Applications under these programs will be accepted from 1 May 2014.
All these measures are expected to ensure that the labor market needs are met while halting the creation of backlogs. A stable supply of qualified and skilled workers settling in the country is expected to be maintained. Thus, the labor force can be supplemented in the fields with skill shortages.
Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister, Chris Alexander, said that the CIC is taking measures through its key economic programs to ensure that its immigration system addresses the economic and labor market requirements of the country at the same time sinking backlogs and getting processing times better.
He added that the CIC is looking forward to launch Express Entry in January 2015 for skilled workers, which the country is in need of.
