Some regions of Canada are facing labour shortages and to reduce this gap, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney has announced a new program to speed the arrival to Canada for foreign skilled tradespeople. The skills should be in demand in the country.
"This is about having an immigration system that works for Canada, works for our economy, works for newcomers [and] fuels our long-term growth and prosperity,"
"For too long, Canada's immigration system has not been open to these in-demand skilled workers. These changes are long overdue and will help us move to a fast and flexible immigration system that works for Canada's economy,"
Starting from January 2nd 2013, Canadian immigration department will start accepting applications for the program. The limit for applications intake is 3000 for the first year, this will help in keeping processing time minimum.
