Copenhagen has been awarded IBM’s Smarter Cities Challenge 2013. A group of experts will deliver recommendations on how to make the city smarter and more effective.
Copenhagen will be assigned six top experts from IBM who will study and deliver recommendations to issues identified by the City of Copenhagen.
”It is crucial to think smart in order to succeed in our ambition to become the first carbon neutral capital by 2025. By mapping data we will acquire a tool to decrease our energy consumption and create a platform for new solutions that will inspire other cities around the world. I am honoured that IBM is contributing to solve our challenges with a Smarter Cities Challenge Grant,” says Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen.
Copenhagen is already an international front runner in developing smart solutions and combining climate and growth. In the brochure Solutions for Sustainable Cities, Copenhagen presents 12 smart solutions to the challenges of a modern city.
IBM’s Smarter Cities Challenge was launched in 2011 as a three year programme including 100 cities.
