With the introduction of ImmiAccount, it is now easier and faster to apply for a partner visa to Australia.
Effective 9th Dec, Australian Partner Visa applicants can apply through a single entry point on the DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) website.
This is a new online facility and a self-service web portal that will facilitate clients to create, pay for, manage and submit all online applications in one online system.
The new application service appears as the DIBP is making important changes to the system of online visa application, which brought down the website temporarily from 2:00 PM, Friday to 2:00 PM, Sunday.
Although the changes in the overall system are still vague, the partner visa online application is ready to go ahead.
If an applicant is engaged to or in a valid relationship with, eligible New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or an Australian citizen, (s)he can stay in Australia on a Temporary Partner Visa.
It is possible to acquire a Permanent Visa if the couple has married, or if the relationship is still genuine and continuing after 2 years.
Fast-track investor visas
Meanwhile, a push is likely to be seen in the processing time of Significant Investor Visa application, which has, on average, a waiting time of 9 months.
Scott Morrison, the new Australian Immigration Minister said he wants to fast-track the processing of this special visa, as this is money awaiting to be invested into Australia and it should not be lost.
In November 2012, the Significant Investor Visa was introduced to devise incentives to prosperous individuals to invest in Australia. The applicant needs to have at least AUD5 million to invest to qualify for this visa.
