Alberta is seeing a growth in the demand for certain occupations and together with the shortage of labor the province is experiencing, Alberta will see an increasing demand for particular types of jobs in 2014.
According to an Alberta-based recruitment firm - Collective Technical Recruitment, 2014 will see a growing demand for 5 primary occupations, including engineering and construction jobs.
The firm’s senior executive recruiter, Trevor Mahl said that this year, they are going to see many challenges regarding recruitment in Alberta.
He added that particularly, employers who are going to have a difficult time finding the correct employees for the correct positions are, from the finance, oil sands and construction sectors.
The most in-demand occupation in oil sands is ‘Power Engineers’.
The oil sands industry of Alberta is also driving careers in the environmental sector and the demand for occupations like Soil Reclamation Technologists will increase.
Also, Alberta is working on almost $2 billion worth major construction projects, and it is expected that the demand for construction supervisors and managers is going to increase exponentially.
Over the next 10 years, it is expected that there will be around 4.3 million positions in management and other jobs that need post-secondary education.
In 2014, there will be around 1,000 openings for jobs like insurance professionals, auditors and accountants.
