Boris Johnson, London Mayor is trying hard to introduce special visa to citizens belonging to the common wealth inorder to both stay as well as work in the United Kingdom to prevent decrease in Indian students’ number.
As per the official statistics, the Indian students’ number arriving for study in Britain has decreased to half from 39,090 in the year 2010 to 2011 to 19,750 in the year 2013 to 2014.
The main reason for this dramatic drop has been pointed to the restriction on work visa post study, which had permitted most students to stay and search for a job for period of two years after completion of their study course.
As per the present system, the students now have only 4 months to search for job and should be paid minimum wages of 20,080 pounds, earlier, these students had nearing to 2 years to complete process of job hunting.
High commissioner belonging to India has suggested to Ranjan Mathai belonging to UK that British universities top –tier must involve more in vetting students together with the Home Office.
As reported in PTI, we do strongly feel that UK universities must be part of this particular process and ensure that students come if they tend to meet requirement and involve in the part of the dialogue.
We also believe that world which we live is interconnected and students must be able to have better access to the fields of higher education. He also added we do have high number of students belonging to foreign origin coming to India; hence it is not one way process.
Under high pressure to decrease the net migration in the United Kingdom from present record high of 3,3000, Theresa May, Home Secretary of UK is up for a clash with other cabinet colleagues who tend to believe that, students belonging to foreign origin, must be kept out of sum net figures of migration.
