The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a club of 34 open economies, has revealed that an increase of 40% in German immigration is observed in 2012.
This indicates that Germany has become the most admired destination globally and at present the country holds a place next to US with regard to market economy attracting immigrants.
During the five-year period from 2007 to 2012, immigrants coming for work every year to Germany rose by 72 %, to nearly 400,000 immigrants.
OECD's migration division administrator, Thomas Liebig, said that such a great increase each year was hardly seen in any country of OECD.
Germany has attracted immigrants from the countries especially Spain and Greece where the jobless rate is high. European country citizens, who require neither a work permit nor a visa to come and settle in Germany have accounted for 3/4th of the immigrants.
OECD said that the most of the new immigrants from the European Union, who are settled in Germany, are working and highly efficient when compared to those who have come in 2007.
