To cater over 150,000 people expected at the Causeway and Second Link daily during the celebration of Hari Raya, around 900 Immigration officers will be working. State Immigration Department director Nasri Ishak said, on each shift of the three shifts daily, 300 Malaysia immigration officers would be working during the celebration.
He said here yesterday, “We expect the number of commuters to shoot up as it is not only a public holiday for both Singapore and Malaysia for Hari Raya but Singapore’s National Day is on August 9”. To ensure fast clearance of passports the officers would be doing their best, he said. He urged that commuters should be prepared for the heavy traffic and be patient. Nasri said that 900 officers will be working throughout the day and all counters will be open. To avoid any complaints of long queues he said, his advice for motorists before starting their journeys to check the flow of traffic. 650 personnel would be deployed during the long holiday weekend said Johor Traffic and Public Order chief Supt T.Raveendran.
