A new free mobile app has been introduced in Australia which allows the visa holders to check their visa information anywhere, anytime. These services are available on both Android as well as Apple devices.
The MYVEVO app, does aim in making it easier, for students to check their study as well as working rights. The travelers can access important information and visa holders can protect themselves from unscrupulous job offers as well as fraud.
As per Michaelia Cash, immigration and border Protection, Assistant Minister said, the app does offer, wide range of benefits such as the ability for the Visa holder to have access to important visa information , which includes visa start as well as expiry dates, visa conditions and visa status.
Cash also added, the MYVEVO app would be incredibly helpful for not only visa holders themselves, but it would be very helpful to the employers who are interested to check the entitlements of work rights easily and quickly. She said, by adding this one particular feature, it does greatly assist the employers. Through this function an email would be automatically generated to 3rd party from the dept. It offers legitimate evidence of someone’s visa conditions and how many hours they are permitted to work.
Cash stated, given the widespread use of smart phones in today’s age, the My VEVO app is considered as an appropriate tool for quick and easy verification of a visa holder’s work rights. The students can use the app to check the study rights. The email visa details are directly available to the education provider while work as well as holiday visa holders can confirm with an employer their ability to work with ease.
She also pointed out that the app is another way for visa holders to protect themselves from unscrupulous operators, which includes labour hire companies who have misrepresented clients in the past by offering false information about the visa entitlement and charging inappropriate fees.
This app complements the existing Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) service, which the individuals can access on the department’s website. The app also does store’s the user’s visa and passport credential after the first log in, making it simpler and faster to use.
Cash said that the app launch is in line with the Government’s digital transformation agenda, to develop the digital services which are simpler, faster and also easier to use.
