The new proposed changes for Federal Skilled Worker Class allows overseas skilled professionals to migrate to Canada under any of the 3 different worker class. Work experience and the place of acquisition if its Canada plays a major role in approval of your visa.
Candidates who are in managerial, professional, or technical occupations can apply under the improved FSWC by highlighting the primary job skills under which they would be assessed. Professionals who are employed in the skilled trades can benefit from criteria which reflects their education and work training pathways in these occupations through the proposed FSTC. TFW who are already in Canada in skilled occupations, and their employers can benefit from the CEC as it makes the transition faster to Canadian permanent residence.
The proposed amendments have been made after extensive research, program evaluation results, consultation with stakeholders and best practices in other countries like Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
The proposed changes to Canadian immigration would affect prospective Canadian permanent resident applicants in professional, managerial, technical and skilled trades occupations.
Eligibility for the FSWC and CEC applicants
The visa applicants should have work experience in one or more occupations listed in the National Occupation Classifications (NOC) matrix at Skill Type 0 (management occupations), Skill Level A (professional occupations), or Skill Level B (technical occupations and skilled trades).
The FSTC only accepts visa applicants with work experience in specific skilled trade occupations listed at Skill Level B would be eligible. Lower-skilled jobs require a secondary school and/or occupation-specific training (NOC Skill Level C). Overseas migrants who require only on-the-job training (NOC Skill Level D) would not be eligible for Canadian FSTC.
