Give the lads in Australia a call and tell them to come back home, as a new public-private partnership will see 1,000 jobs being created for the upgrade of the N11 and N7 road networks.
Decent news on the Irish job front today as over 1,000 jobs are expected to be created by BAM Contractors who have today signed a contract worth €282m with the National Roads Authority on behalf of the Department of Transport.
The new upgrades will see a ‘free-flow’ junction being put in at Newlands Cross on the N7, which will mean motorists will be able to drive from the north of the country to the south without hitting a single set of traffic lights. In fairness, a free-flow junction at Newlads would be pretty handy.
As for the N11, a new 16km dual carriageway linking the end of the Arklow bypass with the end of the Ashford bypass will be created, while a new service area is set for Ballyellin on the Gorey bypass.
Construction work is expected to start in May of this year and the project should be completed within 24 months.
