Australia has hit the headlines yet another time for all good reasons. The country is back in alluring Indian students who are pursuing their higher education. Within the Victoria State itself, the student’s enrollment has increased to 20% in 2014 when compared to the last year.
With the major improvements in education system and the close of forged college, Australia has seen a stable augmentation in the Indian student’s enrollment, reaching over 50,000 in September previous year.
The Director for Victorian Government Business Office in Bangalore, Annie Santhana, said that more than 50,000 Indian students registered all over Australia, of which 50% (25,000) of them are enrolled in Victoria in September 2014.
Citing the international agencies predictions by observing international student mobility, she said that the count of Indian students to Australia is likely to increase significantly each year, by predicting a rise of 25 to 30% each year.
At present, most of Indian students come from metros. However, the trend has changed with students arriving and lodging the applications to pursue their higher educational courses in Australia even from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, which include Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Rajkot, Madurai, Nagpur, Trichy and others, she added.
The main stream courses like engineering, business, IT and sciences are the main preferred programs; however, a major rise in also seen in various vocational study courses.
She added that a number of students are entering to take up commercial cookery, hospitality, hairdressing courses. Vocational training courses are also become enormously popular in Australia.
The two most popular universities for Indian students are La Trobe and Deakin universities. Students who are aware of international ranking scenario are selecting high-ranking universities such as Monash University and University of Melbourne, she added.
