Saudi Arabia's Revised Visa Fee To Benefit First-Time Pilgrims

The government of Saudi Arabia announced few but major changes to its visa fees structure. Remarkably new amendments exempt visa fees for the first time pilgrims visiting Haj or Umra. The decision was announced after a meeting of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif and Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior on August 9, 2016.

The announcement from the cabinet clearly stated that the new amendments will not impact the bilateral agreement between Saudi Arabia and other nations. The revised visa fees will be effective from October 2, 2016.

Some of the prominent reforms announced were:

•         Visa fee to be exempted for first-time pilgrims of Hajj or Umra.
•         Single-entry visa fee revised to 2,000 Saudi Riyals ($533).
•         Six-month multiple-entry visa fee revised to 3000 Saudi Riyals.
•         One-year and two-year multiple-entry visa fee revised to SR5000 and SR8000 respectively.
•         Fee for resident exit and re- entry for two months fixed at SR200 and three months - SR500.
•         Transit Visa fee - SR300.
•         Exit visa fee through seaports will be SR50.
