The tier 2 visa reforms to be effective from 6th April 2016 will have the negative impact on the manufacturing sector. The United Kingdom’s leading manufacturing publication, The Engineer termed the tier 2 norms as detrimental to the manufacturing sector, as the engineering skills of the skilled international force are essential for the growth of the industry.
The tier 2 visa norms which raised the salary threshold to 35,000 Euros annually are burdensome to the UK employers. According to the Engineer, critics have termed the threshold hike as “unfairly draconian” will seriously affect the growth of the industry that largely depends on foreign engineers.
An online movement is being run by the Engineering industry bodies to influence the Government’s decision on UK Tier 2 visas. So far 72,000 signatures have been received in support of scrapping the norms.
The online petition urges the home secretary to reject the new UK tier to visa rules that contain UK employers from recruiting the foreign nationals.
